For Clients and Families

The Frustrated Family Member

Are you tired, frustrated and confused with an alcoholic or drug addict in your life? Do you feel like you have tried every avenue and knocked on every door to no avail?

Seeing an alcoholic or drug addict spiral in the grip of addiction is a scary and confusing experience for friends and family members watching from the sidelines. We often feel helpless, angry and fearful of the future.

You may have many unanswered questions:

“Why can’t he just say no?”
“Why does he choose to hurt us like this?”
“Why can’t he just remove the bad influences in his life?”

We have walked the long and lonely road of addiction, and we have watched our own friends and families deal with the anguish inflicted by our actions. We understand your frustration and feel the pain that you have experienced, and now we want to be here to help you as your loved one begins recovery.

Brazos Recovery very essence is founded on our own experiences in and with recovery. As recovered alcoholics and drug addicts ourselves, we have battled relapses, and we know the pain this causes, both to our families and us personally. We have watched the seemingly endless cycle of addiction destroy lives countless times, yet it doesn’t seem to stop the substance abuse.

We want to assure you; you are not alone.

Alcoholism and drug addiction are diseases that have devastating effects on mothers, fathers, wives, husbands, sisters, brothers and children all over the world. We have built our center to help end the cycle of addiction that destroys lives, and we want to give back to you what you may have lost through your loved one’s addiction.

What Do We Do?

At Brazos Recovery, we have developed a program that helps end the cycle of addiction. We teach all our clients a new way of living and guide them through our 12 Step Completion Program to help them recreate their lives in sobriety.

It takes hard work and commitment for an alcoholic or drug addict to recover, but it is possible. We are here to help them through their rehabilitation in a safe and secure environment and provide plenty of support.

The 12 Steps is a path followed by many recovered addicts, including the founders and staff. We have found a way out of this potentially fatal disease, and we hope and pray that your friend or loved one will follow.

Our common problem – the disease of alcoholism and addiction – is now our greatest asset, as we are able to connect and empathise genuinely with every client, and share our unique experience through this transformational solution. Our priority is to show others the exact method with which we found permanent freedom from addiction, and help them find it too.

For the Suffering Alcoholic or Drug Addict

You may think no one understands what you are going through. How could anyone possibly know how you feel, what you have been through, or your struggles with addiction? But these doubts are often diminished when clients work with us.

We, the founders and staff at Brazos Recovery, are recovered alcoholics and drug addicts, and we understand your pain and frustration at feeling hopeless, lost and beyond help. We have been down every dark and twisted road you can imagine, visited countless doctors, psychiatrists, treatment centers, hospitals and even jail.

Friends and family members of alcoholics or drug addicts, must understand and accept that your addiction is not your fault. You are not the cause of it, you cannot cure it, and you cannot control it.

We know what it is like to lose so much; from our children and friends to our dignity, hope and freedom, to kid ourselves into thinking we can manage our addiction by ourselves, yet fall into the continuous cycle of addiction.

And we also know what it is like to win.

It is our hope that you will follow the path we found to this new way of life – a life free of addiction and pain and one of genuine happiness and fulfillment.

Family Support

Every six weeks, we offer an intensive, structured family day for residents and their family members to spend the day at our facility. During Family Day, we learn about the cycle of addiction, the importance of the 12 Step Completion Program and many invaluable tools we can implement into all our lives. These include residents’ self-care and working to create their own program of recovery and also, how to move forward with their loved ones during treatment and in recovery.

We want to reassure you that in addition to Intensive Family Day, families are involved and updated via phone call on an as-needed basis.

WE'RE READY TO HELP YOU BEGIN A NEW LIFE
