Intensive Outpatient Treatment

Intensive Outpatient Treatment

Here at Brazos Recovery, we offer individualized treatment for each person who walks through our doors. While our residential care helps many of those who come to us, for some people, our Intensive Outpatient Treatment is a more viable solution.

Intensive Outpatient Treatment allows clients to continue with their day-to-day lives while still having access to invaluable support and therapy to facilitate a full recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. Clients can continue living at home, working their jobs, and fulfilling their regular daily commitments, while still receiving personalized treatment to overcome addiction.

Is Intensive Outpatient Treatment the Right Option for Me?

Upon your arrival at Brazos Recovery, we will work with you to determine what kind of treatment is best suited to you and your unique circumstances. We do this through an initial assessment, during which we gather information about your background and specific needs. This is an open conversation in which we invite you to ask any questions you may have and to express any concerns – this is your journey, after all.

With your input, we can discover where you may need extra support and what course of treatment is best for you. During this assessment, we can discuss whether or not Intensive Outpatient Treatment is the right option for you, or whether you would be better suited to our Residential Program.

All of our referrals are made on a case-by-case basis to ensure the right care is given to everyone we meet. As a result of your initial assessment, you will receive an individualized program that will help you on your road to recovery.

Intensive Outpatient Treatment might be right for you if:

  • you have ongoing family commitments
  • you want or have to continue working your job
  • you want to continue living at home
  • you would benefit from the closeness of your loved ones during your recovery

This is just a snapshot of examples of why Intensive Outpatient Treatment might be the best option; however, we must stress that each individual is different, and there is no one-size-fits-all approach.

All of these factors will be taken into consideration when we meet with you, and we will work together to decide whether Intensive Outpatient Treatment is the best choice.

Why Intensive Outpatient Treatment?

Intensive Outpatient Treatment offers intensive addiction therapy without residential care, which, for many people, is a more practical solution for their current situation.

It is not always feasible for addicts to leave their jobs and families to undertake residential treatment for their addiction, and with years of experience and insight, we understand that which is why we also offer this option to clients who come to us seeking help.

While it is not suitable for everyone, for those who do participate in our Intensive Outpatient Treatment, we have seen the benefits of having their loved ones close by throughout their recovery. It is called intensive for a reason, and having the support and nearness of loved ones has proven very successful.

Maintaining a ‘normal’ life is important to so many of our clients, and being able to continue going to work and living at home can be what helps them to stay on the path to full recovery.

Morning and evening group sessions are available, and we work with our clients to facilitate a flexible program that fits in with their unique circumstances.

What Will I Receive in My Intensive Outpatient Treatment?

Much of our Intensive Outpatient Treatment is provided in the form of group sessions, lead by addiction professionals from our team. These groups are intentionally small to allow for a non-intimidating experience and allow every voice to be heard. Our spaces are safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental.

Some of the topics you can expect to learn about and discuss during Intensive Outpatient Treatment are:

  • an introduction to the 12 Steps, 12 Traditions, and 12 Promises
  • how to deal with PAWS (Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome)
  • the skills needed to prevent future relapses
  • how to handle your urges and cravings
  • understanding addiction and our brain chemistry
  • spiritual methods to help combat addiction, such as meditation and prayer
  • life after treatment

How Long Will My Treatment Last?

At Brazos Recovery, we recognize that each individual is unique, and this applies to the time frame on their recovery too. No two clients are the same, so we do not put a set time on recovery – it is an ongoing journey. With that said, a guide to how long your treatment might last will be established in your initial assessment with us. It is important that we first find out more about you and your circumstances so that we can determine the best course of treatment that is right for you.

Family Support

We recognize the importance of family as we have seen the effects addiction has on our loved ones, so we aim to include the families of our residents as much as they wish. In addition to our Intensive Family Day that we host every six weeks, we offer family and couples therapy as part of our treatment programs.
